He has advised on a large number of trade sales, management buy-outs and business restructurings and provides ongoing strategic support to businesses and their owners in setting and achieving objectives. A Chartered Tax Adviser, with a background at PwC, Mark combines tax expertise with strong commercial and practical awareness. Mark led Magma’s own Management Buy-Out from a mid size practice in 2011.
Away from the office, Mark’s interests are sporting-biased, in particular football, golf and racket ball (…squash for slightly less talented people!). However, he undoubtedly expends most energy looking after his two young children.PartnerAndrew is a Chartered Tax Adviser and Chartered Accountant with over 20 years' experience in advising owner managed businesses on their tax affairs. Prior to heading up our Corporate and Business Tax services, Andrew spent a decade within the corporate tax teams of KPMG and PwC. Having been a member of both the HMRC Working Together Committee at national level and the ACCA's Global Tax Forum, but is now fully devoted to clients' affairs.
Areas of his expertise include: company restructuring, transactional work, profit extraction, HMRC investigations, share schemes, R&D tax credits, capital allowances, stamp taxes and VAT.
Away from the office, Andrew’s main interests are sporting in nature. He is willing to give any sport a go (with varying degrees of success) and is always ready to take on visitors to the office at table tennis! Andrew resides in Ashby de La Zouch with his wife and daughter.PartnerWill has over 15 years' experience in advising UK owner-managed businesses and international groups on a broad range of commercial, transactional and compliance issues. Will has an excellent understanding of what makes a business successful and how to increase its value. Will combines his audit and corporate finance experience to provide his clients with commercial and practical advice. Will oversees both the Audit & Assurance and Business Services departments, and is actively involved in Magma's Corporate Finance offering.
Will has extensive experience in both buy-side and sell-side advice regarding MBOs, MBIs, BIMBOs, VIAMBOs, mergers, acquisition, disposals and fund raising.
Away from the office, Will has two young boys to keep entertained, which he just about keeps separate from other hobbies of fishing, shooting, horse racing and skiing.PartnerDavid is an experienced private client tax and wealth adviser to high net worth individuals, families, entrepreneurs and business owners. David’s qualifications include: Chartered Tax Adviser, STEP Diploma in Trusts and Estates, STEP Advanced Certificate in Will Preparation, Certificate in Probate and Estate Administration and Diploma in Financial Planning. Areas of expertise include: Tax Compliance, Inheritance Tax, Wills and Trusts, Probate and Estate Administration, Capital Gains Tax, Property Taxes, Residence and Domicile, Enterprise Investment Scheme and Wealth Management.
Away from the office David spends time with his young family and playing and following various sports; golf and football in particular.PartnerVicki has over 12 years of experience working in both audit and assurance. As a Chartered Accountant, her career has been strongly focused on advising owner manager businesses in a wide variety of sectors. Vicki has a breadth of knowledge in companies, charities, pension schemes and academies. She also specialises in advising and assisting LLPs in a wide variety of sectors. She was promoted to Partner in October 2015 when she gained recognition as a key driver within the expanding audit side of the business.
Away from the office, Vicki has two boys and she enjoys watching them play football in the rain and freezing temperatures on a Sunday morning......and whenever possible at the weekend she enjoys getting out on her bike.PartnerDavid is a Chartered Tax Adviser who joined Magma in 2014. David's career includes senior roles at a leading UK tax boutique and one of the "Magic Circle" law firms. David has 14 years expertise in advising business owners and high net worth individuals on a wide range of areas including Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax planning, Inheritance Tax and Succession, Property Taxes, Partnership Tax and Residence, Domicile and International matters. David also holds the Diploma in Financial Planning and works closely with colleagues at Magma Wealth Management to provide a complete tax and financial planning service.
Away from the office David enjoys mainly sporting activities including shooting, (watching) rugby and golf.PartnerJon has over 14 years’ experience in advising businesses and their owners on their tax affairs including restructuring, corporate acquisitions and disposals and employee incentivisation. Jon is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser and is able to explain tax issues in a concise and easy to understand way while always considering the wider commercial impact of any planning undertaken. Prior to joining Magma Jon spent six years in the Leicester office of a top ten firm advising entrepreneurial owner managed businesses on all tax issues.
Outside of work, Jon enjoys travel and photography and spending time with his family.PartnerLuke heads up the firm’s Audit practice in the Leicester office and looks after the affairs of a large number of Owner Managed Business, Academy and not for profit clients.
Luke joined Clear & Lane as a Trainee Accountant in 1995, and after progression through the firm’s training he qualified in April 2000 with the ACCA. He gained promotion to Assistant Manager in June 2004 and Manager in December 2006 as well as achieving ACCA Fellowship status. He progressed to Partner in May 2012 at the same time as becoming a member of the ICAEW.
Outside of work Luke enjoys spending time with his family, restoring classic cars and “extreme” DIY. On Sundays he enthusiastically coaches his teenage sons from the sidelines at their football matches, as dads do!PartnerPaul heads up the firm’s non-Audit practice in the Leicester office and oversees the affairs of a large number of Owner Managed Businesses. Paul also works closely with a number of the practice’s Audit clients.
Paul joined Clear & Lane as a Trainee Accountant in 1994, qualifying as an ACCA in April 2000. He was appointed Assistant Manager in June 2004 and Manager in December 2006. He progressed to Partner in May 2012, whilst also attaining his ACA qualification.
Outside of work, he can usually be found on matchdays at the King Power stadium watching Leicester City or will alternatively have his head in a book or be watching a TV boxset.ConsultantDavid looks after clients of all sizes, he specialises in OMB's and personal tax planning. David gained a BSc in Economics and Accountancy at Loughborough University, and joined Pannell Kerr Forster in 1980. Having qualified in 1985 he joined Clear & Lane as an Audit Manager in February 1986. He was appointed Partner in May 1987, and Managing Partner on 1 May 2012.
