The annual Budget Statement is usually a big event in our world, but 2019 will be the year without a Budget!

Last month we were advised that the Chancellor of the Exchequer would present his Budget Statement to the House of Commons on 6 November. However, events have since moved on, and as we know, Parliament will now be dissolved on 6 November for the forthcoming election campaign.

We understand the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) will press ahead with publishing revised public finance forecasts on 7 November, rather than risk failing to meet is statutory duties.

The Treasury committee have written to the Chancellor to ask about his plans now the Budget has been cancelled, so watch this space …
