International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.  In honour of this special day, we focus on the outstanding career journey of one of the Magma team, Alison Snook.

After finishing school, Alison wasted no time in deciding her future and dived straight into work before completing a one year Foundation Course in Accountancy at Coventry Polytechnic (now Coventry University).  Upon return, she signed a four year training contract and gained a vast amount experience in all areas of audit and accounts whilst getting on the road and visiting a number of clients in and around London.

Alison has worked in accountancy for nearly forty years, the last 12 with Magma, showing a strong will to succeed and always hungry to take on new responsibilities.   She now combines key Practice Management support for the business (in the form of Practice Assurance and Money Laundering roles) with continuing client-facing work, as a Senior Manager in the expanding Business Services team.

Alongside all of this, Alison and her husband have raised two children (…although, strangely, they both appear to be avoiding accountancy as a career choice!).

Alison commented on her Magma journey: “I continue to enjoy my time here and my job has continually evolved, providing different challenges. It is a fantastic working environment – almost all of the time!

The Partners have always been supportive and have regularly offered me new opportunities. They’ve also been really flexible, allowing me to adapt my role to suit changes in my personal life.”
