International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. IWD is one of the most important days of the year to celebrate women’s achievements, call for positive change advancing women, and more.

The International Women’s Day campaign theme for 2024 is ‘Inspire Inclusion’, helping us and others to understand and value women’s inclusion. When women, themselves, are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging and empowerment. Together, let’s build a more inclusive world for women.

In recognition of the importance raising awareness of IWD, we focus on the accounting and overall career journey so far of one of the Magma team, Nitya Illa.

After achieving an extremely successful set of A-Levels, Nitya delved straight into the world of university in Nottingham – but it didn’t come without difficulties. University began just after COVID-19 hit the UK, giving Nitya an entirely different experience to a usual ‘fresher’. Despite two years of virtual learning and minimal interaction, Nitya completed her final year of university with a credible degree in Economics.

Upon her return to Rugby, Nitya wasted no time in getting stuck into the start of her career, in a new trainee position at Magma, where she will complete her ATT/CTA qualifications over the next few years. Nitya has aspiration to progress further in the corporate and business tax industry, looking further into an advisory position as well as gaining overall accountancy industry experience.

Outside of Nitya’s day-to-day life and work, she loves to travel. Having just come back from Barcelona, she is already looking into where she will be going next.

Nitya commented on her Magma journey and career progress: I am excited about the prospects of my future here at Magma. The supportive and kind nature of all individuals here makes it an incredible atmosphere to work in – especially as a trainee”.
