The UK government has marked the inaugural Tax Administration and Maintenance (TAM) Day with the release of 30 papers covering a wide range of tax issues.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak made the commitment to have a TAM Day in the Autumn Budget, with an aim to have a day dedicated to the administration and maintenance of the UK tax system. The 30 documents published pertain to tax simplification, tackling non-compliance and targeted new policy.
A couple of key points to note were;
- a consultation on reforms of Stamp Duty Land Tax legislation; considering future changes for transactions involving ‘mixed use’ land and property, and claims for multiple dwellings relief.
- Publication of the outcome from consultation on R&D tax reliefs, including a new policy document which builds upon the announcements made at Autumn Budget 2021.
